Place François-Joseph Dargent, in Eich. A plot with Luxembourg's industrial past behind it, bordered by two listed villas and the Parc Laval sloping down to the Alzette river. We are designing the project in a temporary association with Binst Architects: a mixed piece of city with sixty apartments, ground-floor retail, the two villas restored for tertiary use, and a landscape framework built around three protected bicentennial trees.
Two listed villas, a park behind
Villa Shen and Maison Würth, both protected, are restored and brought back into contemporary use for offices and services. Behind them, the older industrial structures, remnants of Luxembourg's early ironworks era, are demolished to free up the buildable area. The four new buildings sit along the street edge, loggias and private terraces opening toward the park.
A four-hands design
Architectural authorship is shared by ACOM and Binst Architects through a temporary association, for the developer ICN Development. Landscape architects Christophe Gautrand & Associés shape the outdoor spaces, organised around the three bicentennial trees and green corridors leading directly into the park.
Mobility and sustainability
The proximity of public transport and cycle paths pushes the project toward soft mobility. The outdoor works reinforce soil permeability and ecological continuity toward the Alzette.
