Luxembourg Architecture Awards 2026: a missing conversation returns
The Luxembourg Architecture Awards return on 25 June 2026 after six years. Submissions open until 30 April, with a new Ministry of Culture lifetime prize.
The Luxembourg Centre for Architecture (LUCA) has announced the ninth edition of the Luxembourg Architecture Awards, returning after six years. The ceremony is on 25 June 2026. Submissions are open until 30 April 2026 and the public vote runs from 1 to 21 June.
A tight calendar

Five categories, five readings of the profession
The categories chosen for 2026 say a lot about where the discipline stands in Luxembourg right now:
- Building for sustainability — sustainability as a project frame, not a label bolted on
- Achieving with accuracy — execution quality, often invisible but decisive
- Engaging with existing systems — dialogue with the built and urban fabric
- Living together — collective housing and the home as a social fact
- Representing & documenting — how architecture is narrated and archived
Each category reads as a short thesis on what architecture in Luxembourg should be today.
A new prize: the Lëtzebuerger Architekturpräis
The Ministry of Culture is introducing a new prize for this edition, the Lëtzebuerger Architekturpräis. It honours a complete body of work and sustained commitment to Luxembourg's architectural scene. It carries €10,000 and will be awarded every four years. The signal is institutional: architecture is being formally recognised as cultural policy, not only as construction policy.
Why the return matters
Six years without LUCA Awards leaves a conversation in suspense. A lot has happened: tighter energy performance requirements, the near-zero-energy standard becoming routine, and fast transformation of districts such as Belval, Cloche d'Or and Kirchberg. The 2026 edition gives the profession a way to look at this body of work and draw some collective lessons.
